REALITY...We deal with it!

He didn't say it
would be easy.
Faith is a journey.
Join us on the road...
Our weekly
faith formation
meetings for
young people in grades 9-12 are called "REALITY".
We meet
on most Sunday evenings from September through May.
What's it all about?
We combine
faith formation with FUN. This is NOT like school or a
classroom! We read scriptures (sometimes from the Sunday Mass
readings), and talk about what they say to us. A lot of times the
bible readings from Sunday Mass say something very different to young
people than they say to their parents and other adults. We discuss
topics that are of interest or concern to teenagers like trust,
forgiveness, friendship, relationships, morality, dating, drinking, drugs,
sex, and abstinence to name just a few.
Sometimes we just have fun, too. Every now and then we have a
pizza party. (We ALWAYS have munchies and pop!) We have a
ping-pong table, a foosball table, other games, and music for
entertainment.
Interested in coming to REALITY?
Just come!!!

Faith formation for teenagers at St. John the Evangelist Church takes
many forms. It is both educational and experiential. We
use the term "formation" because we are not just merely
educating our young people about God. We are forming their faith in
many ways, and education is just one part of that. Experience and
relationships are also important ingredients of faith formation. Our
young people experience living in the Word through spirituality, prayer, worship, sacraments, faith
sharing, service, and community. Throughout
all of this, they are nurturing, and actively participating in,
relationships with other members of their church community.
